Even the dollar store has products that are top of the line performers. When shopping for effective anti-aging skin care products, look for skin transformers like retinol, retinyl palmitate, niacinamide, peptides, hexapeptides, tetrapeptides, and water retainers like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, ceramides, essential fatty acids, sodium PCA, amino acids, asorbic acid, or glycosaminoglycans that improve the barrier function of the skin by attracting and binding water to it. An easy way to remember is
A B C D E.
Vitamin A- retinol
Vitamin B - niacinamide
Vitamin C - asorbic acid
Vitamin D - important for rebuilding hair, skin and nails
Vitamin E - moisturizing

A beauty update: there is a product that I have only seen at Walgreen's, although it maybe available elsewhere as well. It has all the A_B C D E ingredients, which is highly unusual to get in ONE product. The tube is large, goes on smoothly and lasts. It is easy to use, not greasy, absorbs well and feels lovely. It is called PROVECTIN PLUS. You could use an additional moisturizer on top, but I find it is enough for me, even in the winter. It goes well under make-up. It is never advertized that I have seen, but occasionally goes on sale at Walgreens. It is worth ever penny and as I said, lasts a long time. I would say using it twice a day, my tube lasts more than six months at least, maybe closer to nine months. New products come out all of the time, but if you use this, let me know how it works for you. I haven't found anything any better for the money when I have ventured out for something new and improved. And they are always much more expensive per ounce. Enjoy being beautiful for less, ladies. Laugh when you pass the department store beauty counter(quietly)!
ReplyDeleteNothing seems to change faster in the toiletry and beauty category faster than shampoo and hair products. I think it started in the sixties when an entire generation of youth decided that HAIR was the most important part of their public presentation. I was part of that generation; nowadays we are more often folicularly challenged as things tend to sag and thin out over time. None-the-less, you can easily end up with four or five different bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your shower. If you have teenage daughters, it is especially problematic. Maybe you can get their attention about how much that collection of plastic squeeze bottles is worth by adding it all up. Doubtful, because their hair is SO important to them, but if you are the buyer, you have some real control. Try these ideas:
ReplyDelete1. Use up all dribs and drabs before you get more. Force yourself.
2. Extra conditioner that seems to outlast the shampoo by far makes a wonderful shaving cream for legs. It will leave them soft and moisturized, and your daughter won't need to buy the silken legs shaving cream cans that are stacked all over the edge of the tub. I have always used bathsoap for shaving, but honestly, the hair conditioner works great. Plus you get a neater shower, fewer bottles and cans sitting around.
3. Sauve is on the right track. It is one of the best priced hair products on the shelf. Their new line stacks up with premium labels in terms of performance, feel, and fragrance. Try it, I think you will love it. I know your budget will be happy with this affordable luxury.
